I was extremely excited to dive into the beautifully designed bright orange book, Never Eat Alone because of it’s cover. The cover design of this book is brilliant. As I have said many times before, I judge books by their covers… The cover design had me wishing that the book would get better as I read, but sadly it didn’t.
I picked this book to review because I rarely eat lunch alone. I really enjoy meeting new people and catching up with friends over lunch. I figured this book would help me be more confident at asking strangers to lunch. I realized that I don’t need a book to help me with that. I just need to simply ask.
I will admit judging by the cover I didn’t realize this entire book would be dedicated to networking. The author claims to be ‘a master networker.’ While Keith Ferrazzi may be ‘a master networker’ to some. To me the way he approaches networking just seems forced. His book can be summed up in one word: connect.
In one word: connect.
So go connect with friends, co-workers or strangers and eat lunch. But you don’t need this book to succeed at it, just be yourself.
I’m giving Never Eat Alone one out of five ruby red slippers.
Editorial Note: I received Never Eat Alone c/o Blogging for Books for this review, opinions are my own.
