If you’ve ever watched Project Runway, you’ve likely heard of Mood Fabrics. It’s the “mecca” of fabric. If you like fabric or fashion even the slightest, I highly recommend a visit. Mood Fabrics has locations in NYC, LA, and has a strong online presence.
Stepping into the NYC store evokes a sense of overwhelming excitement as beautiful fabrics line aisle after aisle. While I’ve visited the NYC location twice and haven’t purchased fabric either time. I love capturing images of the different textures and styles of fabric. A bonus, each time I leave inspired to create.
This visit also evoked a sense of nostalgia, as I had visited during college while I was attending the NYC Study Tour in 2008. It was on the walk to Mood Fabrics in 2008 that I talked with my academic advisor and told her my dreams of being a fashion buyer were drastically shifting. At the time I didn’t know what was next yet, other than I was returning to work at Iowa State University for the rest of that summer as a Cyclone Aide. Little did I know at the time, it would launch my career in higher education.
As the instructor for the 2015 NYC Study Tour it was wonderful to stop by Mood Fabrics and reflect on the last several years in a field I truly love.
“Thank You Mood” for another fantastic visit.
