Disclaimer: Tyndale House Publishers provided me with a review copy of The Message 100 the Story of God in Sequence and Book Look Bloggers provided me with a review copy of the NIV Bible for Women Fresh Insights for Thriving in Today’s World.
Growing up my nana’s well-worn Bible was typically on the kitchen table or on her couch. Maybe that’s why my favorite spots to read my Bible have always been the kitchen table or cozied up on the couch.
Nana’s Bible has always been an inspiration to me and one day I aspire to have a Bible as well-loved as hers is. Now if only I’d pick one and stick with it maybe one day I’d have one that would be.
Two newly released Bibles that I’ll be reviewing today are The Message 100 the Story of God in Sequence and NIV Bible for Women Fresh Insights for Thriving in Today’s World.
The two Bibles I’ve been using prior to receiving these two for everyday reading are a NIV (almost the same) for ease of portability and a NIV & The Message Parallel Bible. You don’t have to have a brand new Bible though to spend time in the Word. Dust your Bible off of the shelf and continue building a relationship with your Heavenly Father.
Your relationship with God is just that – a relationship. Like any relationship, you need time together with the one you love, talking, sharing, just being quiet. –NIV Bible for Women
Spending time in the Word doesn’t have a time limit. Somedays it’s a couple minutes and others more. You aren’t failing if it’s not as long as another person’s. Simply spend time with Him. That might be in the Word, in prayer, through worship, etc. Go make it happen!
The Message 100:
The Message 100 is the whole Bible – every single, moving word of it – laid out in 100 readings and arranged to reflect the unfolding story. Move through it at your own pace, and discover how God may be moving right there on the page, right here in your life.
I set a pretty ambitious goal when I decided to attempt to read the entire Bible in 100 days. I’ll be honest I’m only at day 7 and I’m already fully aware that it is way more than I can process at once. When I read 20 pages or so at once I’m realizing that I’m reading the Bible like I read other books the faster the better. I love to read, but not all books should be read at rapid speed. Soak God’s word in. Some days you may only get through a passage and others you might make it through pages and pages and that’s okay. I love that the back cover encourages you to go at your own speed, I know I sure needed that reminder.
…Are God’s promises not enough for you,
spoken so gently and tenderly?
Why do you let your emotions take over,
lashing out and spitting fire,
Pitting your whole being against God
by letting words like this come out of your mouth?
Do you think it’s possible for any mere mortal to be sinless
in God’s sight,
for anyone born of a human mother to get it all together?…
-Job 15:1-16, MSG
What you say about yourself means nothing in God’s work. It’s what God says about you that makes the difference. -2 Corinthians 10:18, MSG

NIV Bible for Women:
The NIV Bible for Women will help your time spent with God grow deeper and richer as you dig into his Word, bask in his love, learn his ways and then in turn share your journey with others in all the situations you face.
This Bible intrigued me because my favorite author Shauna Niequist has written the forward. My dear friend Jenna introduced me to Shauna’s books near the beginning of our friendship and I eagerly await each new piece/book she releases. Such truth, wisdom, and vulnerability come from that incredible woman of God. This version includes the full Bible in the NIV version. Plus other incredible authors have penned 260 devotions and 52 common myths are debunked. Needless to say this Bible is jam packed with incredible wisdom.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
