Just Wear a Thong
As a note: hang in there with this post. I know this subject can be a bit controversial, but before you judge, just see where I go here. …and hey–we’re getting pretty used to controversial things on the internet these days.
Let’s start out with something also controversial: the legging. This is ultimately what spawned this thought process and I figured “hey, this is a fashion blog for women so I’m going write a post about fashion for women.” (guys…just go read one of my other posts or something from my hubby) It’s not explicit or anything, though…
First off: I’m a little sassy in this post…bear with me.
Second: The title is a combo click-bait/sassy. I’m not implying a thong is the only underwear you should ever wear–I have a whole drawer of some great cotton bikini-style panties that I feel great wearing, too.
I figure that it might be best to address the insinuation that women who wear leggings are causing men to struggle or should be considered promiscuous. I think it’s a complete pile of 💩. I understand there is a lot more that can be said here but from my perspective:
“Leggings, if worn well, should be no more revealing than a good pair of well-fitted jeans–culture has just given them a persona of being ‘wrong’. There are caveats to anything, but women wearing a normal pair of leggings should not cause a man who wouldn’t already turn their head, to turn their head. It’s not the legging but the guy…so I’ll be comfortable in what I want to wear thank you very much.”
So why am I talking about leggings? …because during an afternoon walk with Hubby the other day I noticed so many women who were showing off their panties through their leggings. I get it…sometimes the “regular” panty is necessary for some days to start–I’m with you girl. …but it’s so awkward to see your underwear so clearly. Your leggings are so cute…and you look so cozy…but if only you knew I’d think you’d be a bit embarrassed. If you think it’s fine–awesome. Rock those panty lines and carry on.
It’s not just about leggings, though. With spring and summer dresses coming out of closets over the next few months there can be super comfortable cotton blends that make the hot weather bearable. …but with those fabrics come how your underwear becomes visible as the fabric lays.
Hey Allison! Pause the post…I don’t like thongs!
I hear you. There are seamless panties that are amazing. Wear them and enjoy them.
Pause again! …aren’t thongs too “sexy”?
This is how I used to feel. Growing up in the culture where being sexy was not “Christian” has really scarred me. The thought of wearing anything “sexy” made me feel like I was sinning. As I’ve grown up, gotten married, I’ve learned how that’s a huge lie. Yes, let’s not show our breasts to the world–but being feminine is not a sin! Feel great in your body whether you’re wearing granny panties or a thong…and once I got over the lie that somehow underwear took away my salvation I can slide into sexy underwear and feel great.
The other thing that really helps is a great thong…and there is really only one brand that I will wear. All of the rest are not as cozy as these, trust me I’ve tried my fair share. The Hanky Panky brand is amazing, sooo comfortable! I have never worn a thong from them that didn’t feel like it disappeared once I slid it on.
So, a bit different than my other posts–but if I had to summarize this in one phrase:
You’re beautiful no matter what. Don’t be afraid to wear your outfits well and don’t be afraid that somehow being feminine or sexy will hold you back from your faith.
