It’s fall and that means it’s time to pull out the sweaters you’ve been wanting to wear, figure where your Hunter Boots are and
bring in some wood from the woodshed relight the pilot light of your fireplace. For the Ramsings, it’s also the time of year for apple picking with friends. Somehow pumpkin picking never caught on for either of us but we do love an apple orchard especially since most of the crowds are trying to find pumpkins while we’re picking and laughing our way down the rows of orchards.
So what does one wear to have a fall adventure? Luckily, practicality typically makes for cute outfits in the fall. You don’t need to look like the Michelin Man just yet so cute sweaters and jeans are a great way to go. Layering also works super well and you can start to play with darker colors again. I went simple with one of my favorite turtlenecks from Nordstrom paired with some dark wash jeans and my Hunters. While I know the Hunters can be a bit of an investment, but if you just wait for your fiance to break up with you and then get back together with you he’ll likely purchase a pair as an “I’m sorry” gift. Pro tip that’s not recommended.
Peter dressed himself today and I gotta’ say… fine-rolling your sleeves up over your sweater is pretty darn cute. He says he learned it from McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy so if you’re looking for fashion advice men, there you go–just look no further than Derek. Peter layered a great navy button-up with an adorable sweater, both from Banana Republic, with a dark wash jean. I think that fall at this point = dark wash jeans. Peter also decided to swap out his Timberland boots with his Sperry Duck boots which I think I’m finally a fan of. I wasn’t convinced when he ignored my “eh…not really” response to his asking “aren’t they amazing?!”. I guess the sentimental aspect of picking apples with his grandfather wearing a pair trumps my disapproval and now I’m smitten…they’re pretty cute on him.
Our totally stylish friends also did it right, although I’m not thaaaaat imposing that I’m checking their tags for brands to link here…I’m sorry that I let you down my faithful reader. She did the layering right with a great olive green jacket and some classic black and white stripes and a black jean. She’s also rocking her Hunters although I do think she purchased hers the normal way. He was sporting, you guessed it, dark wash with plaid: a staple of the fall especially when done with a vest and some boots.
All-in-all, good apples, great conversation, and catching up over drinks afterward at a coffee shop was the perfect way to spend a fall afternoon.
