White as Snow

White as Snow

As it was snowing on Tuesday night I sat next to the fireplace and stared out the window in awe. In awe, of each and every snowflake. Amazed, that each and every snowflake is on its own path. In reverence, that God washes our sins as white as snow.

Like snowflakes, we are each on our own path. God doesn’t call us to compare ourselves to other’s paths. He calls us to live out the callings he Has for us. God gives the snowflakes one job, to simply, fall.

He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’ -Job 37:6, NIV

While it was snowing and I was staring out the window, I was also in awe of how the ground became whiter and whiter with snow. I’m currently reading the entire Bible in a year, I started last summer, it so happened that Psalm 51 was on my reading plan for yesterday. A verse in that chapter reads…

…wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. -Psalm 51:7, NIV

Just as the snow falls to the earth, God will also wash us white as snow.

As many of you know already, I had three surgeries in December and January, one major and two minor. In the months leading up to those surgeries and the weeks after I was quite mad at God. Mad, that healing was taking forever. Annoyed, that I had all these health issues in the first place. Disappointed, that I had to spend more time resting and recovering than I envisioned spending. In reality, God healed my body quite fast. It was supposed to take months to heal from the staph infection that happened as a result of one of my incisions splitting, it’s nearly healed and it’s only been about six weeks. Yes, I likely still have a few weeks to go until it’s 100% healed, but each day God continues to heal my body and I’m rejoicing.

And as my yoga teacher shared with me tonight… “Your body is a powerful force and it’s been fighting like hell to keep you alive. Be patient with your body.”

Just like the beautiful white snow, God has washed my body clean from a chronic illness, a staph infection, the sins I’ve repented for over the years, my lack of trust and need for control, and so much more.

…Though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. -Isaiah 1:18, NIV

Note: My hubby is quite the creative one. While it was snowing, he asked if I’d be willing to go out in the snow on an adventure. Of course, I was in, I love going outside when it’s snowing! The photos in this post are the result of our adventures in the snow the other night.
