Summer JCrew Work Style
Trying to figure out what to wear to the office in the summertime can be complicated. From the time you leave your house in the morning to when you arrive home in the evening, the temperature can change drastically. Throughout my professional career, summertime has always meant getting stuck in a dress rut. I’d pick a different dress to wear to work every day just because it was easy. By the end of the summer, I’d always be ready for the rain and fall temperatures to return simply to wear something different to the office again.
I’d like to say that I’ve solved summer work style, but I haven’t. I still wake up some mornings and wonder what in the world I won’t sweat through during a summer day in the office. Dresses are still one of my favorite things to wear to work in the summer, these days I just switch it up a bit more to not get stuck in a dress rut. Thankfully, earlier this year I began wearing dress pants again.
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with dress pants for years. I’m back in the love category, now that I’ve found a few pairs that fit well. The challenge with dress pants in the summer is trying to figure out what in the world to wear with them that I don’t sweat through.
All of the long sleeve tops I’ve worn all winter and spring tend to be too warm. It can be too chilly for tanks in the summer pending the level of air conditioning in the office you work in. I don’t know about you, though, but I’m always warm in the summer if it’s over 70 degrees outside even in air conditioning.
For me, a tank is a great way to stay cool indoors and outdoors. This summer I discovered the JCrew tall section (it’s about time!). This adorable JCrew lace ruffle-neck tank was a glorious online shopping find in the tall section.
Style Tip: To look classy in the office in the summertime, make this look your own and pair your favorite tank with heels and black dress pants.
