I have named this pattern Nana’s Hugs as a tribute to my late grandmother (aka my Nana), Carol Odgaard. My Nana (and my mom) taught me to quilt, and I treasure all of those memories sewing with her over the years.

In my Nana’s last years here on this earth, the Bible verse she included in every card she sent me was 1 Corinthians 13:13. I picked this verse to go with this pattern because I include a quote or verse with every pattern and this one to me felt like a hug from my Nana to you, the maker of this quilt pattern.

On one of my last trips home before she passed, she gifted me many of her quilting books. As I flipped through them, I found her handwriting and notes on the quilt patterns she had made over the years. She had notes all over a friendship star block pattern — which inspired this quilt pattern, a modern twist on a friendship star quilt. I can’t wait to see what you create with this pattern!
