Meet my newest pattern - Power Spool!
Power Spool originated when Benartex reached out to me about putting a modern spin on a classic spool block.
The barrel of the spool incorporates an hourglass quilt block, which is one of my favorites. The colorway on this design shines for the Iowa State University Cyclones. Power: because quilters use thread to create beautiful masterpieces and the Spool: dispensing the thread is what holds them together for generations to come.
This block was originally featured as a digital mockup in the Benartex Modern By the Yard e-Magazine (below is the page from the e-magazine) and is now being released as a mini quilt, baby quilt - single sashing, baby quilt - double sashing, small throw - single sashing, small throw - double sashing, large throw - single sashing, and large throw - double sashing. The Power Spool is a perfect quilt to make to celebrate your love of quilting or gift to a quilting friend!
*The mini quilt yields four total hourglass blocks (the center of the Power Spool). Make a few mini quilts for friends with the extra hourglass blocks! Do note: Extra fabric is needed of main fabric #1, background fabric, backing, and binding if you are planning to use the same fabric to finish all four mini quilts.

The fabric featured in the Power Spool cover quilt and photos in this post is Benartex Good Vibes by Christa Watson of Christa Quilts. The fabric in the mini quilt is older Cotton + Steel fabric that was designed by the now, Ruby Star Society.
